Unbelievable Replacing Old Light Switch No Ground
I am replacing a porcelain ceiling lamp holder.
Replacing old light switch no ground. You didn t say how old your old switches were but i m going to assume that they didn t have proper grounds on them. How to replace your old outdated 3 way light switches. I bought a new lamp holder with an outlet in it my old one does not have an outlet.
The house isn t haunted i don t think. The copper water pipe goes into the earth when it goes out to the main water source. Run your ground wire from the light conduit box to the nearest copper water pipe.
If you have pvc piping then you will need to drive a ground rod into the ground outside. The issue thats weird to me is that the switch i took out only had 2 wires connected to it. Thread the screw into the back of the box and splice the other end to the green wire that comes out of the switch.
When replacing an old switch you will need to connect the new switch to the circuit ground wires even if your old switch had no such grounding connection. If you don t have a threaded hole in the back of the box then use the green ground wire that is on the outlet and wire nut the ground from the switch to the one that grounds the outlet. One wire connected to the left one pole and one wire connected to the left running through both 2 ploes on the left side.
This pipe will act as a ground and allows you to not have to drive a ground rod outside your house. 15 2017 5 00 a m. Use your post digger and dig 8 feet down.
From what you have. I replaced the wires just as they were on the new switch. The house is.
